What’s the NECO Examination Number?
NECO (National Examination Council) examination number is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric number that’s given to NECO candidates. The number issued serves as the candidate’s identity (more like NIN but just for the NECO examination) and it’s used to check the NECO results when it’s released.Retrieve NECO Examination Number
The NECO examination number is made up of eight numbers and two capital letters. For example, a typical NECO examination number would like this: 60514564AD.
Finally, the NECO examination numbers issued each year are unique to that year and by that, I mean that the same examination number can be used by two different people who sat for the NECO examination in two different years.

Which exam syllabus and year are retrievable?
You can retrieve the NECO examination number for June/July (Internal) and Nov/Dec (External) from 2000 to the current year. So if you have misplaced your NECO examination number and you took the NECO examination between the period of 2000 and 2022, then your NECO examination can be recovered or retrieved.

What’s the difference between the NECO internal and NECO external?
The NECO June/July is the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), also known as the “School Candidate” and it’s generally written by students who are in their third year and final year in high school.Npower Recruitment
On the contrary, the NECO Nov/Dec is General Certificate Examination (GCE), also known as “Private Candidate” is generally written by people who have left the school system.

How to Retrieve NECO Examination Number
The way the NECO examination number is formulated has not been disclosed by NECO. Unlike NECO, WAEC (West African Examination Council) is transparent about how their examination numbers are formulated—7 of the numbers represent the WAEC centre while the remaining last three represent the seat number.JAMB Result
However, it’s possible to retrieve your NECO examination number and to that, you’ll have to a NECO office in your state and provide them with the following information:
- Your full nameJAMB Form
- The year of the examination
- The name of the school where the exam was writtenWAEC Result
Once you are able to provide the information outlined above, the National Examination Council (NECO) will run the information provided through their database and if the information provided is accurate, your examination number will pop.
